"The individuals who participated in discussions had an overwhelming concern about basic health care. Even those who were employed were concerned that they would lose their jobs and therefore their health care. One couple had children and the wife has diabetes. Another couple were in their early 60's with prior cancer, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. We, as a group, felt that any coverage that excluded pre-existing conditions would not work.

The best plan we could come up with is universal health care. Canada, England, Denmark etc. all have this. It is a solution that will work for everyone. It is expensive, but so was the war in Iraq. It is just a matter of priorities."
